Triclinium carpets and rugs in the provisions Triclinium

Triclinio Kurdish Bijar taken from spongobongo.com
The Triclinium was the room where lunch was served in the homes of the ancient Roman patricians. The diners sat reclining on cushions around a low table following a characteristic horseshoe-shaped arrangement. He took the name from the three cushions on which to pin the hosts and their guests would lie for the duration of the meal. Each pillow was able to accommodate three guests who were lying on the left side.
As this classic layout was very similar to that of the Eastern Roman Empire assogettati - but also of the Parties - that furnished the tents and "Domus" with their mats mangiarvici only for sleeping and entertaining guests, the term triclinium was adapted and adopted in the West since ancient times to indicate precisely the rules of classical Eastern and Persian carpets in the rooms. Nowadays with a definition of all commercial carpets are defined Triclinium those rare species - often ancient - that in their system as a whole or illustrations reproduce the above provision, and which were made with three different weaving techniques listed below:

• The first is the classic one, where the carpets are drawn as a composite system in a single copy

• The second is that in Karaman, weaving technique that originates from the Turkmen and providing for the construction into separate sections and then sewn together.

• A third solution is the production of carpets woven plots separated from the sun (selvedge), and united in one body. In these cases, some merchants used and still use split, resulting in three or four different carpets.
